Abstinence With A Reasonable Explanation

is a program that teaches teens about the benefits of abstinence and the risks involved in pre-marital sex. A 25 minute PowerPoint presentation includes information on:

  • Medically accurate information on STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections)
  • Risks involved in pre-marital sex including:
    • Physical
    • Psychological
    • Emotional and spiritual conflict
  • Influence of media messages
  • Sexual Exposure Chart
  • Teen pregnancy outcomes
  • Comparison of love vs. hooking up
  • Benefits of saving sex until marriage
  • Importance of setting goals
  • Effect of sexual choices on future goals
  • 2nd Chances –secondary virginity and the hope of starting over
  • Healthy relationships
  • Presents abstinence as the safest, healthiest choice for teens
  • Waiting skills

Two short videos, "Sex Is Not a Game" and "Thought You Ought to Know" are powerful, hard-hitting videos that really relate to teens and the pressures they face.

TAKE HOME RESOURCES: STI information, Sexual Exposure Chart Bookmarks, medically accurate information on risks of pre-marital sex and benefits of abstinence until marriage. We provide and encourage these to be read in a quiet place where they can truly contemplate the magnitude of their sexual choices on their lives.

The Generation AWARE program is for all teens, including junior high and high school, as well as young adult age. This could include small groups such as Girl Scouts, Youth Groups, and even sports teams. They want the adults in their life to encourage abstinence until marriage as the best and healthiest choice. We owe them respectful, honest, medically accurate information to intelligently base that decision on.

PARENTS/ADULTS: Generation AWARE is also available to parents and adults to discuss the struggles, pressures and sexual culture teens live in today. We have resources available to help you talk to your teen about this critical issue. We're here to help with any questions or concerns you may have. The fact that you're reading this now is a testament to your concern and love for your teen.

ONE-ON-ONE COUNSELING: Confidential, non-judgmental counseling is available to all teens and parents/adults.
